The Common App (Common Application) is a free online platform used by over 1,100 colleges and universities worldwide to streamline the undergraduate admission process. It allows students to fill out their demographic, academic, and extracurricular information once to apply to multiple institutions, managing deadlines and submitting documents such as essays and letters of recommendation.

Coalition for College : Another application platform available to students is comprised of approximately 170 colleges and universities focused on promoting access to higher education for underrepresented, low-income, and first-generation students. Member schools must meet specific criteria regarding graduation rates and affordability. Some colleges give students the opportunity to apply using either the Common or Coalition application platform.

Bigfuture.collegeboard.com. A comprehensive website for exploring schools, searching for scholarships, and managing deadlines. This College Board platform provides comprehensive tools for exploring colleges, including information on admission, tuition, financial aid, and campus life. It also offers college-matching features based on your preferences.

College Navigator:  A government-run, in-depth data tool to filter colleges by location, programs, and cost. College Navigator is a free, online search tool developed by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to help students and families research and compare over 7,000 postsecondary institutions. It provides official, detailed data on tuition, admissions, majors, graduation rates, and campus safety. 

CollegeData.com is a free, comprehensive online college advisory service and database—provided by 1st Financial Bank USA—designed to help students and parents search, apply to, and calculate the costs of over 2,600+ US colleges. In-depth statistics on each institution’s financial aid and scholarship awards to students is a particularly valuable section of the database.  

U.S. News & World Report College Rankings: While some consider the methodology of these rankings to favor more selective institutions, U.S. News rankings can be valuable especially when a student is considering a particular major such as mechanical engineering, computer science, business or other majors, enabling students to see a list of the “best” or highly regarded programs and institutions offering a particular undergraduate major. This resource can help you compare institutions based on various criteria, including academic quality, campus life, and financial aid offerings as well.

CampusTours, Appily, The College Tour and You Visit : Students can explore college campuses through virtual tours, interactive maps, and videos. These sites provide a user-friendly interface for prospective students and families to get a comprehensive look at universities without physically visiting. Through 360-degree panoramas, walking tours, and informative content, these sites give a detailed insight into campus life, academic facilities, and student resources.

Essential financial

Essential financial aid tools include the official FAFSA® form for federal aid, the College Scorecard for comparing costs, and Net Price Calculators on college websites for personalized estimates. Additional tools like Fastweb and Sallie Mae’s Scholarship Search help find scholarships, while calculators from FinAid.org or uAspire help estimate loan payments and overall affordability.

Federal Student Aid

This is the primary government website for students and parents to better understand how financial aid, grants, scholarships, and student loans work. Parents and students applying for need-based financial aid assistance at colleges in the United States will complete the FAFSA to give colleges personal and financial information necessary to determine a family’s financial need and estimated cost of attendance for college.

FastWeb

A scholarship search platform connecting students with scholarships, grants, and financial aid opportunities. It also offers college search tools and expert advice on financial planning for college. Fastweb’s database is updated regularly to provide access to the latest scholarship opportunities.
